Tattooed bartender girl kicked me out after 4 beers for no reason, even tho i tipped her like $15. She was rude and i just felt discriminated because of my ethnicity, won’t return there and management should take action. Lame
I love this bar. I don't go to the Lower East Side as much as I used to but this is probably my favorite spot in that area. A great jukebox provides the perfect soundtrack for this throwback bar. Tables are located in the rear portion of the pub, where books line the shelves and movies play on the back wall. The bartenders keep the patrons in check and the vibe moving. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the bartenders.
The clientele is varied and if you come with the right energy, you can definitely meet new people and have memorable conversations. Just a gem of a place that I hope never changes.
My fiancé and I stopped in here for a pre NYE party drink. There was a couple sitting at the bar who had a small dog, and the bartender was letting the dog walk ON the bar where drinks were made. I’m talking, ON the mats where drinks are made and cups are set down to dry. She was petting it in between making drinks, without washing her hands even once. We frequent dive bars so aren’t strangers to witnessing the occasional healthcode violation, but this was actually disgusting. Super disappointed because we were excited to visit this bar.
I visited for the first time with some friends and someone brought their small dog in and let it walk all around the bar top. The bartender allowed it and was letting it walk near the clean glassware and where drinks were being made. She continued to pet it between making drinks and did not wash her hands once. I have been to many dive bars but I have never seen anything like this before.
I had an issue with the bartender being short with us. I know we didn’t understand some of the rules for their happy hour but we were treated like idiots. My mix drink was tough to drink it was so sour and salty. I searched the walls for an elaboration of the rules and I didn’t see any. It was super loud and was tough to have any conversation. I hope this was a fluke experience
Made me feel like home! From Boston and love punk and sass! Elizabeth did an amazing job and we love her! 100% recommend if you love dive and sass! Great drinks
This place has very well priced drinks and an unique vibe. It goes for a horror aesthetic with dim, almost completely dark, lighting and a projector that plays old schlocky horror movies in the back.
Cool dive just off Houston. It's not your typical library themed bar - this one has a more counter culture aesthetic, complete with a projector that plays dark comedies and absurdist satires, and slightly spooky wall art. Drank a 'Gansett and enjoyed it. Crowd got younger and less cool as the night went on.
